The 72nd DOLE Anniversary at CAMANAVA

 

 

            The Department of Labor and Employment celebrated its 72nd Founding Anniversary on December 8, 2005 at the Valenzuela Astrodome through gift giving to the child laborers and street children of CAMANAVA.  An outreach program in commemoration with its founding anniversary was started last year and once again been undertaken thru the efforts of DOLE NCR, NWPC and NCMB, in cooperation with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the local governments of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela.

 

            The anniversary celebration began with a holy mass solemnized by Father Manny Manicad.  After the ceremony, Dir. Ric Martinez Sr. of DOLE NCR delivered his opening remarks.  Also, gracing the occasion were Hon. Tony Espiritu, Vice Mayor of Valenzuela and Ms. Hernandez, Chief of Staff, who represented the city mayor Hon. Sherwin Gatchalian.  In the messages delivered by the local officials, they reminded the children to savor the glory of their youth and inculcated in their minds the importance of education.

 

Guests from the Filipino Chinese Business Club Inc. were Mr. Paul Yong and Mr. Robert Ong who gave 300 Christmas packs for the children of CAMANAVA in addition to the presents provided by NWPC, NCMB and DOLE-NCR, the sponsoring agencies for the area.

 

Children were ecstatic when Daniela Iringan, a finalist of Pop Star Kids, rendered two (2) song numbers followed by a dance number of students from Greencrest Learning Center while  child sensation BJ “Tolits  Forbes presented his dance number.  GMA 7’s Star Struck kids joined the children during parlor games.

 

Adding to the festive atmosphere, the presence of 4 Pinoy Big Brother evictees, namely Rico, Franzen, Chix and Jenny stirred the audience, not only the kids but also the adults as well, dancing and singing the famous song “Pinoy Ako”. 

 

Other DOLE Officials who took part on the success of this event were Assistant Regional Director Ma. Celeste Valderama of DOLE NCR, CAMANAVA District Officer Tony Ubaldo, NCMB-NCR Director Elenita F. Cruz and NCMB Deputy Executive Director Reynaldo R. Ubaldo.

 

The day was capped by OIC Deputy Executive Director Avito Sto. Tomas of NWPC, wishing everybody to have a joyful and peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
