NCMB DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ARAGON VISITS BICOL

 

By the invitation of the Labor-Management Industrial Peace Advocates (LAMIPA), Personnel Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) Bicol Chapter and the Bicol Federation of Family Welfare Committees Inc. (BFFWCI), NCMB Deputy Executive Director Marie Louise Guan-Aragon  proceeded to Bicol last March 29, 2005 to promote the strengthening of alternative dispute resolution, the proactive efforts being undertaken by NCMB.

 

Her travel included visits to UNOCAL Philippines, (formerly PGI) in Tiwi,  Albay, Aquinas University in Legazpi City and Sorsogon Electric Cooperative II in Sorsogon  City.

 

At UNOCAL Philippines, she was able to meet the Company’s Asset Vice-President, its operation manager, supervisors and staff. She  presented with them the Best LMC (Labor Management Cooperation) Practices at Unocal Philippines Incorporated, Asian Transmission Corporation and Central Azucarera Don Pedro and discussed the NCMB’s Search for Best LMC for 2005.  The formation of the Bicol Association of Industrial Grievance Management Advocacy (BAGMA) was also discussed during the meeting.

 

At the Aquinas University, Deputy Executive Director Aragon once again showed the film on the LMC Best Practices and discussed with the body the 2005 Search for Best LMC.  At the forum,  Deputy Executive Director Aragon encouraged the employees of Aquinas University to join this year’s search, adding that, they will be the first educational institution to showcase their best LMC practices.

 

On March 30, 2005, Deputy Executive Director Aragon proceeded to Sorsogon Electric Cooperative II (SORECO II) and met  SORECO II’s  different department managers, supervisors, board secretary and three (3) board directors from Pilar, Donsol and Sorsogon and all SORECO II’s union officers.  She shared her insights  on  Best  LMC  Practices  and at the same time discussed the mechanics of  the  2005 Search for Best LMC.  She likewise impart her views on how to develop core values and foster the development of LMC to determine its impact in the overall performance of the company under the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001 also known as the EPIRA Law (RA 9136).

 

To inspire  SORECO II in joining the search, she told them that she would be happy if Region 5 will be number one in the promotion  and implementation of the three program areas of NCMB, namely, conciliation-mediation, voluntary arbitration  and labor-management cooperation.

 

To cap off her visit in Region 5, Deputy Executive Director Aragon met with the officials and staff of NCMB Regional Branch 5 to discuss issues and concerns that affect the Branch.   (Marife E. Fausto)
