Executive Director Hans Leo J. Cacdac disclosed today

Center and St. Luke’s
Medical Center Employees Association-AFW has concluded their CBA negotiations on
September 8, 2005 after 3 conciliation meetings.
The
dispute between the management of the hospital and employees’ association arose
out of deadlock in negotiation over wage increases and other economic
provisions of the CBA. On August

signifying its intention to go on strike on account of the deadlock.
Director
Cacdac said that St. Lukes’s
Medical Center agreed to grant the 1,900 employees
a 10% wage increase inclusive of the NCR Wage Order No. 11 for the first year
of the CBA and another 9% each for the second and third year of the CBA. Under the agreement signed before Conciliator
Mediators Noli S. Diega and
Amorsolo V. Aglibut, the
employees will also receive two sacks of rice convertible to cash in the amount
of P1,000 per sack, a hazard pay of P200 per month per covered employee, an
additional Christmas bonus of P1,000 for three years or P4,000 annually and a signing
bonus amounting to 60% of the basic pay of the employee.
Management
and union likewise agree to maintain the provisions of the old CBA with respect
to non-economic issues.
The
economic package is estimated to cost P 356 million spread over a period of
three years.
In
a related development, the dispute involving United Doctors
Medical Center
and the United Doctors Medical Center Employees Association-Obrero
Pilipino was amicably settled on September
8, 2005 when the parties concluded an agreement. Salient points of
the settlement included the salary increases of the 200 covered employees for
the remaining period of the CBA amounting to P430 per employee effective March
1, 2005 and another P400 per employee effective March 1, 2006. The agreement likewise included the upgraded
seniority pay of the employees and the P2,000 signing bonus. Total package is estimated at P4.5 million.
