Fueled with the desire to heed the call of solidarity, the National Conciliation and Mediation Board’s (NCMB) Officials and Staff at the Central Office together with the Regional Directors had its Team Enhancement Exercise last July 1-2, 2005 at Makiling Highlands, Pansol, Laguna.
The cozy ambience of Makiling Highlands welcomed the group. Upon settling down, the group responsible for the conduct of the activity composed of the new appointees, started the ball rolling. They gathered the group beneath the tall trees and invoked the presence of the Almighty. A message from Deputy Executive Directors Marie Louise A. Guan-Aragon and Reynaldo R. Ubaldo and Executive Director Hans Leo J. Cacdac set the activity in motion. They talked about the essence of unity and the difference between team building and building a team.
Series of games followed starting from “the boat is sinking” where the participants tend to grab one another for the sake of winning; the voices were tested as they sang “leron leron sinta” randomly; the mind were tickled as they play “simple charade” and everyone was twisted as they knot themselves during the “pretzel” game. Everyone was enthusiastic and participative. Unity indeed existed.
In the afternoon, an indoor activity ensued. A personality test was conducted through the use of shapes: square, triangle, hexagon and circle. Everyone burst in laughter as the meaning of each of the shapes is disclosed. This activity undeniably stirred the crowd. Right after this, they were divided into four groups and were given a bundle of hard broom and pieces of bubble gum. They were instructed to build a structure of their choice out of the given materials and within a specified time frame. This activity unleashed their creativity and tested their planning and organizing skills. Soon after they have finished their masterpieces, they were given a chance to explain what they have done.
A tribute for Director Generoso Soriano “Ka Gener” followed. A simple ceremony for the retiring Director became the highlight of the activity. It was a night of gratitude for the generosity he had shown to everyone and for the ardor he had for service. Friends and comrades in the workplace had their word for Ka Gener.
On the second day, the participants were embraced by
