DILG and NCMB
Sponsor Conciliation-Mediation Training
LEGASPI CITY -- The Department of Interior and Local
Government (DILG) and the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB),
Regional Offices in Bicol are jointly undertaking a Conciliation-Mediation
Training from July 26-28, 2006 at Mayon Spring Resort, Sto. Domingo, Albay.
NCMB Bicol regional director Romulado
B. Florante said the Training project resulted from the Memorandum of
Agreement (MOA) signed by the Department
of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Interior and Local Government
(DILG) and the NCMB recognizing the
important role of LGUs in the maintenance of
industrial peace and harmony and the protection of workers’ rights and welfare
for a progressive social and economic development.
Florante said
the MOA provides the guidelines in the promotion and strengthening of the
voluntary modes of dispute prevention and settlement of labor problems, and
require the LGUs to maintain a corps of qualified
personnel to be trained as conciliator-mediator in their respective localities.
The on-going Conciliation-Mediation Trainings is the first of its kind in the region, participants from unionized companies/establishments in the entire Bicol are likewise invited to attend especially Human Resource/Administrative managers, personnel officers and union presidents and/or officers.
Empowering the clients and LGUs on conciliation-mediation processes and techniques is advantageous for the early settlement of labor disputes because at their end, they can adopt a single-team approach to better handle and manage the dispute in their respective locality, Florante stressed.
