NCMB OBSERVES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

 

 

            Deputy Exec. Director Johnson G. Canete and Director Elenita  F. Cruz  led the conciliators and  some  50 staff from the NCMB Central Office,  NCR, and Region 4-A & 4B  in attending the  National Women’s Day celebration  at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium last March 8, 2007,  The NCMB  personnel likewise  participated in the various activities which marked the occasion, including, awareness raising activities, distribution of knowledge products, trade and livelihood fairs, and one-stop shop government services for women clients.

 

            President Gloria M. Arroyo delivered the keynote speech where she recognized the role of women in nation building thus, offering women in the NGO’s and government agencies wider access to microfinance funds.

                 The annual tribute to women is a month-long celebration emphasizing on promoting women’s economic rights and empowerment through the theme: "CEDAW ng BAYAN: Kabuhayan ng Kababaihan".  It likewise observes the International Theme of “Ending Impunity for Violence against Women” and the priority theme of the 51st Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, "The elimination of all forms of discrimination and violence against the girl child".

            As part of the observance, NCMB has lined up several activities for the month, which include wearing of T-shirt with CEDAW logo, photo exhibit of distinguished women, general assembly for all employees, role switching for men and women, creativity and stress  management workshops,  film showing,  seminars on  women’s rights, as well as livelihood activities.  Ema A.
