NCMB- CAR conducts training on Conciliation-Mediation and

 ADR for Social Partners

 

 

            NCMB – CAR conducted a training on “Conciliation and Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution  (ADR) for Social Partners” last 15 – 16 March 2007 at the RCB Dome, University of Baguio.  The training aimed to intensify advocacy of the ADR system and the optimum use of conciliation-mediation in all aspects of labor dispute, as well as  to equip the participants with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for conciliation-mediation.

 

            Director Darrow P. Odsey, Officer-in-Charge of NCMB-CAR, discussed the ADR Framework with emphasis on conciliation-mediation and voluntary arbitration as  effective ADR schemes.  The Constitution and Legal Framework of Conciliation-Mediation and the Overall Framework of the DOLE’s Dispute Prevention and Settlement was taken up by Atty. Amado Adquilen, voluntary arbitrator and law professor. Atty. Gregorio T. Abalos briefly talked about the important roles of hearing officers in the settlement of disputes. Executive Labor Arbiter Vito Bose and Labor Arbiter Monroe Tabingan  both from NLRC-CAR  discussed the topic “NLRC as partner in ADR”.

 

            Lastly, Executive Director Reynaldo R. Ubaldo tackled the topic “Conflict Dynamics,” adding his first-hand experiences in the conciliation-mediation for thirty-three years.  The participants were then able to practice what they have learned in the training by analyzing a sample case entitled “ the Donde Usted  Anda, Inc.”  All in all, fifty –one (51) participants from Regions I, II and CAR benefited from the training.
