The 2011
Search for Outstanding LMC Awards for Industrial Peace is the seventh to be
conducted since it was institutionalized in 1999. It is undertaken through the
collaboration of the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB), an agency
attached to the Department of Labor and Employment, and the Philippine League of
Labor-Management Cooperation Practitioners (PHILAMCOP), the national association
of LMC advocates and practitioners.
“We conduct
the Search every two years to recognize best practices and success stories of
companies with LMCs – LMC mechanisms that have proven effective in improving
labor relations in the workplace, which resulted in increased productivity,
worker’s job satisfaction, and good business performance,” Cacdac, who is also
officer-in-charge of NCMB, further said.
An LMC is a
plant-level mechanism that is designed to preserve industrial peace in companies
and establishments by encouraging constant communication and positive
interaction between workers and employees.
Baldoz
lauded the joint efforts of the NCMB and PHILAMCOP in conducting the biennial
event.
“Our
advocacy for the adoption of LMC mechanisms in companies is in keeping with the
constitutional policy to promote the rights of workers to participate in policy
and decision-making on matters that affect their interests, which is one of the
reforms being pursued in the 22-point labor and employment agenda of the
President,” she said.
Twelve
companies have won the award since 1999, including two Hall of Famers (four-time
winners) and three others that won the award at least twice.
